Here’s what to expect from Avalabetta – A day trip destination from Bangalore

Located at an approximate distance of 90 KMs from Bangalore, Avalabetta is topping the travel charts of Bangaloreans. Due to its lesser fame, as compared to Nandi hills, Avalabetta is on the list for offbeat travellers. Famous for its hanging cliff, Avalabetta attracts many curious travellers from Bangalore.

Make it necessary to reach Avalabetta peak before sunrise. I cannot stress the importance of this enough. You should try to leave Bangalore by 4:30 AM and reach Avalabetta by 6 AM. You might not see the sunrise as Avalabetta faces the west. But, you will surely escape from the crowd. As the morning light will clear the fog and gradually present a marvellous landscape to admire, you can sit on the hanging cliff with your feet oscillating above the drop.

The hill houses Lakshmi Narasimha temple, villagers offer the first milk of their cows to the deity worshipped here. For explorers and adventurers, the place offers enough opportunities for climbing, bird watching or simply learning about its mythology. Years ago, the only way to scale the hill was to take a trail covered in bushes. Now, however, there’s a good road constructed. The unique shaped cliff makes it an ideal spot for visitors to capture the photos, the cliff makes Avalabetta stand unique from rest of the hills near Bangalore.

PS: You wouldn’t find any reputed/good hotels, carrying your own refreshments would be good.
