Oath, the Verizon subsidiary which owns Yahoo announced they are planning to shut down Yahoo messenger on July 17, 2018.
Disappointed Loyal Customer
If we dive into the year 2000, there was a wide range a people who had gone mad on Yahoo Messenger which was the pioneer Instant Chat App.
So Yahoo tries comforting their customer by stating “We know we have many loyal fans who have used Yahoo Messenger since its beginning as one of the first chat apps of its kind. As the communications landscape continues to change over, we’re focusing on building and introducing new, exciting communications tools that better fit consumer needs.”
Downtime for Yahoo User
Yahoo Messenger will stop functioning on July 17. User will have six months to download their chat histories from Messenger.
And redirecting the user to invite only messaging app called Yahoo Squirrel ( currently in beta ) Once the Messenger is shuttered, then it comes into light.

The company is not specific about its reasons for shutting down Messenger. Oath also shut down AIM, AOL’s equivalent messaging app, in October.
